CommLocker

Acceptable Use Policy

CommLocker's numbers run on US carriers, and the carriers hold us responsible for every call and text that goes over them. This policy says what your business may not do with CommLocker. It is part of our Terms of Service.

Texts

Don't send texts that are:

  • unlawful;
  • deceptive or misleading, including texts that pretend to come from someone else;
  • harassing, threatening or abusive;
  • phishing, or that try to get someone's passwords, codes, card or bank details under false pretences;
  • about cannabis;
  • hateful.

And:

  • Have consent. Text only people who agreed to hear from your business, or who texted you first. Don't send marketing texts without the person's express written consent.
  • Honour opt-outs. When someone replies STOP, or asks in any words not to be texted, stop. CommLocker blocks texts to people who have opted out; don't try to reach them another way through CommLocker.
  • No bulk sending. CommLocker is for conversations, not campaigns. Don't use it for mass texting or to get around the small size of group texts.
  • Links. Don't use public link shorteners. A shortened link must be on a domain that belongs to your business, and every link must make clear whose website it goes to.
  • 911. Don't try to text 911. Call it.

Calls

  • Recording law. Calls on CommLocker are recorded. Keep the recording notice on, or, if your business turns it off, tell everyone on your calls that they are recorded, as the law where they are requires. See Call recording and consent.
  • No robocalls or spam calls. Don't use CommLocker to place automated, prerecorded or unwanted sales calls.

Health information

Don't capture, store or send protected health information. CommLocker doesn't meet HIPAA's rules for it.

What happens if this policy is broken

To protect your numbers and everyone else's, we may pause a business's outgoing calls, texts or numbers, and a carrier may put a number or a texting registration on hold. We tell the Owner why in the app.
